Found Poetry: My Earliest Publications

Cleaning out some old files I happened across my earliest publications, a collection of forgettable poems that made their way into several small literary journals in Ohio and nearby states. These were from a time of great creative energy when much of my attention was turned to writing verse, although lacking perhaps any literary merit.

Encouraged by the acceptance of these poems, I determined that despite my late age, it was time to go to college. I soon traded my poetic outburst for academic pursuits—in the fall following the last of these publications I began my venture into the scholarly realm at The Ohio State University. Now more than a quarter century later, perhaps it’s time to recover a bit of that creative energy that started me down this path.
