Creative Procrastination

Creativity is never procrastination.

Yes, there are more pressing matters to attend to, far less enjoyable or satisfying than creating something new. But the urgencies of the moment will soon pass, and the art will stay indefinitely in your soul.

The Japanese poet Matsuo Bashō understood this when he wrote of the “everlasting self which is poetry.” Our time in this world is a lived poem. My hope is to become worthy of the artistry that makes life possible.
